Demonstration for Peace in Ukraine – Standing in Solidarity with Women Victims of the War

If you are moved by the events in Ukraine and wish to stand in solidarity with the women who are the victims of war join a weekly demonstration being held in Bournemouth Square every Sunday at 12pm
Show up for Ukrainian women of our community and for those trying to survive unimaginable war crimes in Ukraine. Help to raise awareness of what happens to women during times of war; leaving homes with children and elderly & sick relatives, losing husbands and children, at risk of human trafficking, sexual violence, isolation, poverty. Honour these Women by standing up for them, for not letting their suffering go unseen and unheard. Honour the men who are left behind to fight for their country, separated from their families and losing their lives.

Why protest? Does it Make a Difference?

Protesting is one of our fundamental democratic rights and it plays an essential role in giving a voice to people an dissues, and holding institutions accountable for their actions. It can be more effective than sharing your views on social media.

It allows us to experience our shared humanity and to show others that we and they are not alone – we are stronger together.

History shows that by protesting we can influence policy, even when it takes time.
